An excellent short book that succintly rather than simply explains many of the smaller although more horrible wars of the last century. The maps, diagrams and picture illustrate brilliantly the tactical and strategic elements that often were the turning points in these conflicts. Highly worthwhile reading for anyone wishing to gain a quick though incisive understanding of the modern conflicts that we see today
Good Bedtime reading (Rating 5 of 5)

I liked the chapters regarding the Mau Mau uprising and the Algerian war.The sense of belonging to one country or tribe is a very strong identity and the struggles felt by the Kenyan, Algerian , Afghan and Vietnamese people are very vividly described in this book
